Pietro Pace, music and singing master of the Duckes Eleonora Della Rovere of Pesaro, dedicates these mottettos to her on occasion of her mysterious and unexpected reclution with the name of Suor Maria. Concealed by a veil of profound ambiguity, Pietro Pace signs compositions for sacred performances, where sensuality and spirituality mingle and alternate. A brief comment: recorded in the monastery of Saint Salvatore di Fucecchio, near Florence, which preserves intact Cesare Romani’s splendid 16th-century organ, the monks hosting us spent sleepless nights ‘spying’ on the intense evocative beauty of the these notes inspired by a pure and impossible love.
